Goan Designer Afrin Maniyar reflects on Indian weddings

I always get fascinated by the bright outfits, magnificent culture, unique style and historical monuments. These elements play a crucial role while designing a masterpiece.

It all starts from sketching and putting the whole idea on a piece of paper and then executing the plan. Since childhood, I have been good at sketching. I used to love experimenting and to play with colours and these lead me to choose my profession. I choose to become a fashion designer and create beautiful outfits.

When a pen touches the surface of crisp white paper, it creates magical ideas to execute the final outcome. In my childhood, I enjoyed sketching and as time passed I got better at it. It was delightful to create and experiment with colours. And that’s what made me choose this profession. To design charming outfits, so I became a fashion designer.

Big fat weddings are the trademark of india. People plan the weddings in advance for months or sometimes in years. The Lehenga is at the heart for any bride. She has dreamed about the Lehenga since childhood.

Bridal outfit

When I sit down and start to design a bridal outfit. I push my limits to create something new. It may be in colour combination, style or embroidery. Blissful nature and splendid Indian architecture are my inspirations.

Fashion has always played a vital role when it comes to weddings. Earlier, brides just wore traditional red sarees for their wedding ceremony. But now the times have changed and so has the fashion trend. The whole wedding revolves around what the bride will wear and what designer they should approach.
