FROM SPORT LIFE TO MODELLING CAREER – THE JOURNEY OF DR. PRITESH GUMANE
- Mr Pune and Mr Fab Mumbai 2018, the dashing Dr. Pritesh Gumane, talks about his love for sports and his long beard. Interview By : Aishwarya Powar
Q1. How come you flaunt such a long beard?
Ans: Actually I love my beard, I’ve been growing it for two years now. I love maintaining it.
Q2. Tell us about your journey and your start in the modelling industry.
Ans: At the end of 2016, my friends started saying why don’t you try a career in modelling. Earlier I was in sports. I used to play for a club in Pune and then I tried my career in Modelling with the great support from my friends. My first show was in Bangalore in 2016, I auditioned and got selected, then went for the final round and won the title. I was very nervous at the time of the auditions. It was in the evening and I greeted everyone with a ‘good morning’. I was really confused.
Q3. Which is your favourite sport and player?
Ans: Football is my favourite sport Represented india U-19 category and Christiano Ronaldo is my all time favourite player.
Q4. What was your parents’ first reaction when you told them that you want to do modelling?
Ans: I called my dad and informed him about the auditions. He asked me to focus on my studies – “No need to do modeling,” he said. But my friends insisted and without informing my folks I went for auditions. Then when I won the title, I called my father. He was a little angry but happy after hearing that I won the title. He even started posting my pictures. Everyone was happy!
Q5. What will you suggest to newcomers who want to venture into modelling?
Ans: If you want to start your career in modelling, you must know the basic things, age criteria, fitness requirement, height criteria, etc. Height is not a criteria for pageants, but if you are tying up with any brand, height is the most important factor. For male models, it should be 6 feet and above and for female models it is 5.8 feet and above.
Females with 5.4 feet in height or thereabouts can go for commercials and acting as their profession. Height is the biggest factor in modelling field.
Q6. What according to you is important beauty, complexion or talent in this profession?
Ans: According to me, beauty and complexion are not as important as personality and talent.
Q7. Why did you choose to play football?
Ans: I started playing football when I was in second standard. Then I started representing my school for football, started playing at clubs and even at international level. Football is my most favourite game. I have played basketball at university level, too.
Q8. Tell us something about your birthplace?
Ans: I am from Nandurbar. It is a very small town in Maharashtra, and has a very hot and humid climate during summers.
Q9. What is the difference in physique of male athlete and male model?
Ans: The physique of males athletes totally depends on bodybuilding and you should have a proper lean shaded physique. For the fashion industry, a fully toned body is required.
Q10. How do you manage to get such a toned body in every photo shoot?
Ans: I prepare myself for every fitness shoot. I follow a healthy diet before a week of my fitness shoot. I eat only boiled food and minimise the intake of salt. It’s not that easy.
Q11. Being in a modelling industry, how do you manage your closet?
Ans: It depends on what place I am going. If I am going for an interview, I wear formals. If I am going for a runway, a different outfit.
Q12. Which products do you use for your long beard?
Ans: I use nourishing products such as Bombay Shaving Company’s beard oil.
Q13. How do you make your six pack abs?
Ans: I have never followed any particular diet as I live alone. I always eat outside food. But one thing is that I fully focus on my intense workout. I don’t even receive any calls during my workout. It’s God’s gift that I have a good physique.
